Zdeněk Hurák, Štěpán Ošlejšek and Vít Fanta actively participated in the 2026 European Control Conference (ECC26), which took place in Reykjavík, Iceland from July 7 to July 10, 2026.

Vít gave a talk on exploiting the extra degree of freedom a speed optimizer gains from the fact that train timetables are rounded to the minute (the paper titled “Energy-Efficient Train Control under Relaxed Timetable Constraints”). Štěpán spoke about whether the signal plan broadcast by a traffic light controller can be used by a tram’s speed optimizer approaching the intersection to save energy (the paper titled “Green Light Optimized Speed Advisory for Trams”). Both papers will later appear in IEEEXplore database.

Zdeněk also participated at the EUCA General Assembly meeting as the representative of Czechia.

Some spare time was also spent on sightseeing in Reykjavík and its surroundings, including a trip to Thingvellir National Park, Geysir geothermal area, and Gullfoss waterfall.
